Gastropubs are pubs that not only serve great beer but also offer high quality food that pairs well with beer. The trend and the term became popular in London in the 1990s and soon spread across the pond. In the UK and the U.S., gastropubs have also been leaders in the movement to use locally sourced ingredients and artisanal products.
As part of Long Island’s beer revolution, gastropubs sprung up across the Island where beer lovers can enjoy a wide selection of LI beers, often while dining on dishes that use beer in the recipe. Some of Long Island’s gastropubs were so successful that they expanded to additional locations:
- Tap Room – original opened 2011 in Patchogue, 2nd location in Massapequa Park, 3rd in Bay Shore, 4th in Rockville Centre, 5th in Farmingdale, 6th in Jericho, soon to be 7th at Station Yards in Ronkonkoma
- EGP – originally named Eat Gastropub, opened 2014 in Oceanside, 2nd in Island Park (EGP Land & Sea), 3rd in Lynbrook
- Old Fields – original in Greenlawn, 2nd in Port Jefferson, 3rd in Huntington (Old Fields Barbecue)
